The bible tells a story of how the realm of spirit intersects with the realm of matter. In Spiritman issue 3 these two realms collide as Martin talks to his friends. Here is a pencil version of the cover for issue 3.

"When they tell you, 'Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter,' shouldn’t a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?"
Isaiah 8:19 WMB

Here's the color cover for issue 3. When Scott and I were talking story arcs we initially thought that issue 4 would be a conclusion to some of the shorter story arcs. But after making issue 3 we realized that it was so intense we would need to calm things down a bit in issue 4 and build to a new climax in issue 5. In other words... Spiritman issue 3 is packed with action. Hope you like it.

"For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace."
James 3:16-18 WMB

Review by a prison chaplain and comic fan...
When I first received my copy of Spiritman I approached it with my usual amount of skepticism when picking up a new comic for the first time. I found the cover art to be compelling and then flipped through the pages to test out the artwork inside and to my satisfaction it was very well drawn, albeit in grayscale. The grayscale does not remotely subtract from the feel of the comic book however as it is very well drawn and well presented.
The story of the main character is also compelling in terms of the curious situation he finds himself in from the beginning of the story. It is not the typical comic book conflict which breathes a bit of fresh air into the story. Throughout the beginning of this story we are presented with a damsel in distress character, the quintessential diabolical and mysterious nemesis, and a growing sense of conflict. The twist at the end of this first issue will definitely have avid comic book readers coming back for more. I am certainly looking forward to the next issue.
The superhero of the story, the titular Spiritman, is unique and fresh. He possesses unique abilities that, while reminiscent of other superheroes, are not in any way, shape, or form direct or even indirect copies of them. The unique way he relates to the main character is also something fresh and unexpected.
All said, Spiritman has the makings of a great comic book and seeing a comic book with Christian overtones and a compelling story hit the market is a refreshing change. I am excited to see Where the adventure goes next.
Thanks Fred

Onward to issue 3... yeah! Spiritman 3 is different than our other books. The entire story juxtaposes Martin in the material realm and Martin/Spiritman in the spiritual realm. The panels alternate. Today I am showing you both panels, 1 material and 1 spiritual. Going forward I will show you 1 panel at a time. The 2 panels I am showing you are happening simultaneously... 2 ways of viewing a single moment.

Yeshua, when he was immersed, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him. Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
Matthew 3:16-17 WMB

So Martin's mom just announced from off camera that his friends have arrived. Martin's focus is intense. What he plans to do will be difficult... not without opposition.

"For I know that after my departure, vicious wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock."
Acts 20:29 WMB

No words today. Martin is preparing for a difficult task and this is Spiritman's side of things. Focus and determination.

"For the Lord GOD will help me. Therefore I have not been confounded. Therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I won’t be disappointed."
Isaiah 50:7 WMB
