The Spiritman Update can be read like a devotional. It follows the comics panel by panel mixed with commentary from the creators and a dose of scripture.

Spiritman Daily Dose 218

In issue 1 Martin's dad would not even speak to him. The most we heard was a chair that screeched as it was slid across the floor... I hate that sound.
"For our fathers were unfaithful, and have done that which was evil in the LORD our God’s sight, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs."
2 Chronicles 29:6 WMB
Spiritman Daily Dose 219

Martin feels a longing to connect with his father but his father keeps walking away. Sadly, many of us have felt this tension. I pray that God will help me be different with my children.
"I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the Father."
1 John 2:14 WMB
Spiritman Daily Dose 220

Crowds of people sort of come and go in Martin's dream. Right now the crowd seems like an obstacle to Martin. That will change.
"Some shouted one thing, and some another, among the crowd. When he couldn’t find out the truth because of the noise, he commanded him to be brought into the barracks. When he came to the stairs, he was carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd; for the multitude of the people followed after, crying out, 'Away with him!”
Acts 21:34-36 WMB
Spiritman Daily Dose 221

Quickly the crowds disappear as Martin's attention is refocused elsewhere. Where is Spiritman through all of this? Martin was promised answers. Maybe this dream will provide them.
"The proud one will stumble and fall, and no one will raise him up. I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it will devour all who are around him.”
Jeremiah 50:32 WMB
Spiritman Daily Dose 222

Again the crowd gathers around Martin to prevent him from doing something. He calls out to his mom but she doesn't hear him. Ever have a dream where you call out to someone but as hard as you strain you can't make a sound?
"Listen to my prayer, God. Don’t hide yourself from my supplication. Attend to me, and answer me. I am restless in my complaint, and moan”
Psalm 55:1-2 WMB
Spiritman Daily Dose 223

It's odd that the crowd lets Martin get through as soon as it's too late for him to get what he wants. How can anything useful be pulled from this dream?
"Give glory to the LORD your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and while you look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it deep darkness.”
Jeremiah 13:16 WMB

Hello! My name is Amanda. I am a teenager, an aspiring Christian author, and a hopeless superhero addict. I just wanted to thank you two for writing those books. Their message came to me at a time when I needed it. They gave me hope. Keep writing and never give up.
