Yesterday I thought that the next panel was going to reveal what the birds are. I forgot about this panel, so the reveal is coming tomorrow. I will tell you this. They are scouts for the enemy, the devil, working in connection with the demon that tried to pounce on Martin/Spiritman.

That's a whole bunch of yuck! Really tall panel here that works in a printed comic but not as well on social media. I am publishing it as is plus broken into a couple of chunks. Somewhere in there you should be able to get the story.
Ok... so I can't count. I thought that today's panel would reveal something about the birds. It will be tomorrow for sure. Wait for it...

The birds are vultures of the enemy. They are named depression. They strike at a distance vomiting black sludge. The Shield of Faith kept Spiritman from being covered with the stuff. Now it looks like some armor is being changed out.
"Hurry to answer me, LORD. My spirit fails. Don’t hide your face from me, so that I don’t become like those who go down into the pit."

Spiritman's sword and shield disappear and are replaced with a bow and a quiver of arrows. Wait... that's not a part of God's armor, is it?

Refusing to see only what the enemy (the devil) wanted him to see, Martin chooses to look for God's hand at work. Nice point Scott. That's something I could benefit from meditating on.
"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God."
