If you were around for issue 1 you may recognize this as the villain's lair. I imagined a combination of religious and business with some creepy shadow creatures thrown in. The pace is slowing down a bit so that it can build to a new climax. Scott (writer) does a great job of managing the pace in the story.

"For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness."
Psalm 84:10 WMB

Conversation with a shadow. Will we hear the shadow talk back? The guy with long hair doesn't turn to look at the shadow but he knows it is there. We refer to the guy as "shadowy figure" though I don't think he is ever actually called that in the comic.

"...because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the dawn from on high will visit us, to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death; to guide our feet into the way of peace."
Luke 1:78-79 WMB

Can you read that? The guy with the long hair seems to be able to understand the creature. He knows that the creature is there but doesn't seem to see it. That's weird.
Who did they lose? Must be Scott and Everett. I don't think they died... so what happened to them?

"in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience."
Ephesians 2:2 WMB

Wait... "those bumbling idiots" share the same names as the writer and artist... it's just fiction. And who is the "she" that the guy with long hair is referring to? The prophetess. I forgot to elaborate yesterday. This is the first time she has been mentioned in the story. In the biblical tradition a prophet is one who speaks for God. In this case the prophetess is one who sees visions and speaks for other spirits. She is a part of the villainous hierarchy in our story. It hasn't been fully revealed so you can look forward to more information yet to come.

"But I have this against you, that you tolerate your§ woman, Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality, and to eat things sacrificed to idols."
Revelation 2:20 WMB

Is that clear to everyone? I think the context is they were talking about losing Scott and Everett. The demon seems to have some opinion on the matter.

"This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic."
James 3:15 WMB

So, he is telling a demon that the demon can do whatever it wants with a couple of people... nice. I guess that's what keeps him in the villain column.

"Your prophets have seen false and foolish visions for you. They have not uncovered your iniquity, to reverse your captivity, but have seen for you false revelations and causes of banishment."
Lamentations 2:14 WMB
