The Spiritman Update can be read like a devotional. It follows the comics panel by panel mixed with commentary from the creators and a dose of scripture.

Spiritman Daily Dose 95

Martin seems totally confident here. Maybe he can do this superhero thing after all... no, he's got this... I'm sure...
"Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehinnom [Hell]."
Matthew 10:28 WMB

Martin is learning that "superheroing" does not happen without a few bruises. While I have never actually been a superhero, I have been beat up by people who were more numerous and more powerful than me. What may seem like bravery to others is experienced as fear and shame by the one being assaulted. Sometimes the events of our lives get away from our control. All we can do is trust God and deal with what comes our way.
"Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If it happens, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up."
Daniel 3:16-18 WMB

Ah, what a nice man... promising that he won't lie to the kid... but then again, he did just hit Martin so I guess he is still in the villain column. When is Spiritman going to show up?
"...for he [God] says, “At an acceptable time I listened to you. In a day of salvation I helped you."
2 Corinthians 6:2 WMB

I kind of imagine this guy as having bad breath... the knife is kind of scary too. Yesterday was an ...ish day. The Spiritman Daily Dose is one panel of Spiritman per day...ish. You see, school around here has not started yet so all the kids were at my house. Lots of noise and having fun. It was great but I could not get a moment to do the daily dose. Thank you for sticking around. I will strive to have as few ...ish days as possible.
"Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up. All day long, he attacks and oppresses me."
Psalm 56:1 WMB

Now that's progress. Did Martin do that?
Chelsea is in the empty apartment. Scott and Everett are lurking in the hall behind Chelsea. Martin is coming up the stairs. What we don't know in this sequence is the location of the guy who was following Martin. Martin, look behind you.
"Then my enemies shall turn back in the day that I call. I know this: that God is for me."
Psalm 56:9 WMB
Spiritman Daily Dose 100

Whoah dude... chill out. What, did Martin hulk out or something? Maybe we'll find out tomorrow.
"God, you are my God. I will earnestly seek you. My soul thirsts for you. My flesh longs for you, in a dry and weary land, where there is no water. So I have seen you in the sanctuary, watching your power and your glory. Because your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you."
Psalm 63:1-3 WMB

Hello! My name is Amanda. I am a teenager, an aspiring Christian author, and a hopeless superhero addict. I just wanted to thank you two for writing those books. Their message came to me at a time when I needed it. They gave me hope. Keep writing and never give up.
